Collection: Handmade Shipibo Conibo community tapestry

One of the most illustrative cultural manifestations of the Peruvian Amazon is Shipibo art. The techniques and ceremonies used to create its pottery, sculptures, costume jewelry and fabrics were passed down from generation to generation. Women from the Shipibo tribe are the ones that create the majority of the crafts, with distinctive designs that reflect their mystical traditions, worldview and peaceful coexistence with their natural surroundings. They are comprised of one-of-a-kind handmade items that are representative of the Shipibo culture and are created utilizing traditional techniques and materials from the area, primarily clay. The fabrics they produce, which have a rich creative heritage due to their geometric patterning, are a perfect illustration of how original it is.

Those patterns embroidered by Shipibo women are representing songs, they are painted music.
